2021 Workplace Well-Being

Mental health support is the new normal. Across the last several years, employers have offered new benefits to support their employees, for instance, expanded parental leave. Even before the pandemic, Harvard Business Review showed that 45% of companies were creating “well-being budgets”, allocated to mental and emotional well-being programs. The Covid-19 pandemic has brought well-being to the forefront as employers are more aware of the impact of mental health on the workplace. Even before the COVID-19 crisis, behavioral health problems such as anxiety, stress, and depression were widespread, constituting a leading cause of diminished well-being and exacting an enormous toll in the form of absenteeism, reduced productivity, and increased healthcare costs.

Organizations are introducing at least one new wellness benefit to aid employees during these challenging times. In 2021, employers will go even further by working to de-stigmatize mental health by expanding mental health benefits. Employers are expanding virtual options. Providing access to virtual mental health and well-being services as well as online mental health support resources such as apps, videos, and articles.
